Things You Might Not Know About Minecraft

Minecraft is a complicated game full of secrets and life. In this website, we are going to talk about some Minecraft facts you may or may not know. Read on if you are new to the game!

Introduction

If you want to know more about Minecraft, you need to know what it is! The game is simple. It is a sandbox type game that is made up of blocks. You can place blocks, collect blocks, destroy blocks. You can even craft blocks! There are 2 modes: Survival and Creative. In Survival, as the names suggests, you try to survive in the wilderness by building houses, collecting resources, and crafting matierials. Some players use Creative to make huge castles and bases, then to battle it out in Survival! Minecraft is a free-to-play-game, meaning there are no instructions or directions. You can do what you want! There is a multiplayer option where up to 4 people can join on one console (excluding PC) and nearly unlimited people can join on one server! You can play Minecraft on all PlayStations, all XBoxes, Nintendo Switch, PC, Laptop, Tablet, and Phone.

The Good Stuff!

Starting the facts! First up is...The Ender Dragon! The Ender Dragon is a powerful creature that flies high above the mythical End! But! To even get to it, you need to find the portal! It is found deep underground in a maze of caves. After you have placed all 12 ender eyes and jumped through the portal, you will be face-to face with a huge dragon. It has lots of health, and it has huge, tall pillars of obsidian with healing blocks on top that you have to destroy to even attack the dragon! Defeating it will reward you with the most valuable, legendary, and mysterious object ever! But why would we tell you what it is? □

Here's a tip for defeating it: Shoot arrows at it (you need enchanted weapons/armor) until it lands above the portal. Then spam attack until it flies away! Repeat till it dies. To collect the treasure, you have to place a torch 2 blocks below the, ahem, treasure, and then destroy the block between them. Don't screw up! There is only one of these treasures in the entire Minecraft world!

Next is...DIAMONDS!! Any experienced player knows that diamonds, especially diamond weapons or armor, are very valuable. They are found deep underground and require a really good pickaxe to get. If you are playing in a multiplayer survival world, you can trade diamonds for lots of great stuff! (Tip. If you find diamonds near a lava cave, dig a whole underneath the diamond block to see if there's lava. That'll save you a couple diamonds!) It takes 24 diamonds to make a full set of armor! That's a lot! Most players just make swords or pickaxes out of it. (Fun fact: Youtubers such as Falcondor and Gameicorn use their precious diamonds to make useless hoes. Some even throw them into lava! DO NOT DO THAT!!)

Next up is...Ocean Monuments! You might already know what this is. You might've even been to one! As the name suggests, the Ocean Monument is a huge underwater monument with lots of treasure inside! Finding one might be a little difficult...because it is surrounded by huge, screeching fish that shoot lasers! These are called guardians (no, not like the mechanical spiders from Breath of the Wild that also shoot lasers). To even try to find the monument, you need special waterbreathing potions or armor. If you ever get attacked by a guardian, you will be unable to mine anything for 5 minutes!

Next! Villages! You should probably already know what these are, but we'll mention it anyway. Villages are small civiliations built and inhabited by NPCs (Non-Player-Characters) called Villagers (duh). They will trade almost anything for weapons, armor, food, and other stuff. But what they really want is EMERALDS! Villagers LOVE emeralds, and they will trade LOTS for it. Some villagers will give you an enchanted DIAMOND chestplate for 7 emeralds! If you're kinda low on matierials but high on emeralds, take a pit stop at a village. If you're in the beggininng of the game and find a village, mine the houses for some good materials.

Time for another and that is...the Nether! The Nether is a fireish biome that is just as it seems. Look one way: fire. Look another way: fire. Just fire, lava, and...Oh yeah! Giant ghosts that shoot more fire and scream like a baby! You might be thinking, "Hey. Now why do I need to go to this useless place and waste my armor on floating noisemakers?" Well, if you want potions, that is. There are fortresses that spawn enemies, but contain the mythical crop called "Nether Wart" (Don't worry. It won't give you warts) You can plant it and grow it and it is used to make potions.

Before even thinking about going, prepare, prepare, prepare! Armor is neccesary, and if you have one, bring a fire-resistance potion so you won't burn to a crisp.

To get there, you need a portal. Portals can be constructed with obsidian. Obsidian is made when lava touches water. Pretty simple, huh? Well, the hard part is getting the obsidian. You need a, you heard it, Diamond pickaxe. Wow! You need 3 diamonds for that. Thank Mojang for not making it to where you need a diamond hoe to get it!

Wolves spawn in jungles and in some oak forests and will not attack you unless you attack them. They can be tamed with bones, and you can even change their collar color with dye! They follow you wherever you go and help you defeat enemies. But don's put all of your trust in them! Wolves are helpless with creepers! They will run for cover. Cats, on the other hand, will attack anything, even creepers.

Next up is caves! Any experienced player has gone to at least one cave in your run. Caves have valuable ore, especially if it is a cave out of a ravine or a lava cave. A big cave, a pickaxe, and some torches will get you a good base! They can have coal, emeralds, iron, gold, lapis, redstone, diamond. Basically every ore, depending on the depth of the cave. (Tip: The best place to find diamonds is at Y-12) See above for more info on diamonds.

Next is...Biomes! This is gonna be a long one, so buckle up! This website will talk about 3 biomes. First up is Mountains! The Mountain biome is a big, mountainous area. Sometimes it has big caves in them! Mountains contain emeralds (see above) and are usually snowy. The Caves and Cliffs Update Part II brought many more realistic versions of biomes.

Below the Mesa is the Birch Forest Mountains. They aren't as hilly or snowy, but still elevated.

Click here for a trailer for the Caves and Cliffs Update Part II

Next up! Desert! The desert is a huge, sandy, area. You might find some cacti here and there. Surprisingly, there are small ponds, and in the picture, you can see a river. The desert shown is a hills desert. If you add the word "hills" in front of the biome, that means it is extra hilly. (Excluding Mountains)

Next is Ocean. The Ocean biome is a big space of water. It can have coral, fish, monuments (see above), and even shipwrecks. (don't worry, there are no sharks in Minecraft yet) If you don't have a farm or good weapons, go to an ocean. It only takes one or two hits with just your hand to kill a fish. All you need now is coal and 8 stone.

Shipwrecks can have valuable things, like paper, gold, iron, and weapons or armor, but the most valuable thing is the maps. There are special maps that are hard to decode, but if you find it out, it will bring you to...treasure! Shipwrecks also have valuable materials that a new player wouldn't have, such as doors, trapdoors, wood, fences, stairs, and so much more!

Next is redstone. Boy, this is a complicated one. Redstone is like the wiring of Minecraft, except you don't need it. It is like an editor of Minecraft, with some limits. Redstone can do something as simple as pushing a block, or something as complicated as an elevator or sorter.

Redstone is an ore found underground that was previously mentioned in the cave section. Each redstone ore block can drop as much as 7 redtone dust! You need stone to create some of the repeaters or comparators. It is simple. Place a lever. Put redstone dust on the ground leading to a piston or lamp. Make sure that the dust is connecting the 2 objects. Then flip the lever! If you used a piston, it should extend. If you use a lamp, it should light up. There are many blocks in redstone, such as observers, pistons, lamps, trapdoors, doors, pressure plates, levers, tripwire, buttons, slime, redstone torches, and so much more! Feel free to explore with redstone in Creative by looking in the redstone section.
