MINI BIO

Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews was born on January 2nd 1986 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His brother played in his own band and was the lead trumpet. Troy began his music journey at a young age. He had always wanted to play in a band and one day he found a beat up trombone but it still played and that's all that mattered to him. He then gathered his friends and started a band. Even though his friends didn't have instruments to play they pretended to play musical instruments with old metal and even bikes.,/FONT>

Later when Troy was four years old he went to the Jazz Fest in New Orleans. He started to play along with the live music in the crowd. Then Bo Diddley heard Troy playing in the crowd and asked “who is that”. Then Troy’s mother pointed him out and Bo Diddley invited him on the stage to play with him and he just played along with the song.

Trombone Shorty is one of my favorite trombonists. Ever since I started playing music I wanted to be like him. His story is very inspiring to young musicians. So this story should be encouraging to people who want to play music but don't know where to start. Some of his best pieces are: Tripped Out Slim, Hurricane Season, Something beautiful, Hold Up Wait a Minute, and Backatown.
